Whilst waiting for one of our advisers to call you back, there are several things you can do to help us help you.
The first thing to do is relax. We understand that it can be difficult to talk to someone about your financial troubles, but (honestly) all of our advisers are nice, friendly, down-to-earth people, who have heard everything, and are not in the least judgemental.
The second thing to do is add our number to your phone. You’ve no doubt been ignoring calls from anyone who aren’t friends or family. We will call from the number 0800 029 3992. Please add this to your contacts and make sure you answer when we call.
What To Have at Hand
- List of creditors and amount you owe to each – whilst not every solution requires you to include all of your debts, it’s handy to have a list of everyone and how much you owe them in order for us to get a full picture of your financial situation.
- Bills – Having any bills to hand allows us to get any reference numbers we may need.
- Payslips – We need an exact figure on any income you are receiving. This includes salary, benefits, Universal Credit, etc.
- If you don’t already have WhatsApp on your phone, download it – it’s a useful tool for sending and receiving secure files, as well as staying in touch with your adviser.
Check Your Credit Report
Although your credit rating isn’t that important at this point (it’s mainly used to obtain further credit – which you don’t want), the information included in a report is a useful resource to find out exactly to who you owe money.
Don’t be fooled into paying for an expensive credit report however, all three of the credit report companies offer free reports. As each company can show different information, it’s worth signing up with all three to get a clear picture of your credit situation.
